Canadian Hydrographic Service Announces Changes in Chart Coverage on North Coast of Newfoundland

Ottawa, ON – Effective December 22, 2005, the coastal chart showing most of the north central Newfoundland (chart 4520) is discontinued. This decision was reached after consultations with interested and affected parties. It is based on the issuance of New Charts 4820 and 4821 that portray the area at better scale and to modern standards. Unlike Chart 4520, the new charts may be used with Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.

Please be advised the British Admiralty Chart 293 has also been discontinued. This area is now covered by 4820 in the north and by 4854, 4855, 4856, and 4857 in the south.
